Sox make slight changes to schedule!

Moves accommodate Opening Night game against Yanks.

n light of their Opening Night game, the Red Sox announced changes to their 2010 season-opening series against the Yankees on Thursday.

The second game of the series, which was originally scheduled for April 7, will be moved up a day, now being played April 6 at 7:10 p.m. ET. In turn, the third game will also be moved up a day, going from April 8 to April 7 at 7:10 p.m.

April 5 and 8 will now be off-days in the Red Sox's schedule.

The changes came into effect after Opening Night on ESPN2 between the Yankees and Red Sox at Fenway Park was moved up to April 4 at 8 p.m. That game will mark the fifth time in the past six seasons that the winner of the previous year's World Series plays in the season-opening Sunday night game.

If not for the change, the Boston would've had back-to-back days off to start the season on April 5 and 6, the following Monday and Tuesday. The Red Sox will now have an off-day after wrapping up their three-game series against the Yankees, then play the Royals on the road April 9.
